A number of optional tours have been developed for ICD 2012 delegates and partners, to showcase the sites of Sydney and surrounding regions. The following tours are not included in the registration fee for delegates

Tour 1: Introducing Sydney

Explore the vibrancy and style of cosmopolitan Sydney, one of the world’s most beautiful harbour cities. Discover colonial buildings and cobbled lanes in The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest historical precinct.  Enjoy views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House from Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, a waterfront seat carved into the rock for the wife of visionary colonial governor, Lachlan Macquarie. Travel through Sydney’s fashionable eastern suburbs, renowned for their elegant homes and harbour vistas, on the way to world-famous Bondi Beach – a haven for surfers and sun lovers.

Tour 2: BridgeClimb

Climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge is an exhilarating experience. Rendezvous at the BridgeClimb office for a safety briefing and prepare for your three-hour adventure! Accompanied by an experienced leader your small team will cross the catwalk to the pylon and walk up to the summit of the Bridge’s upper arch - 130 metres above sea level.

Harnessed to a static line for the duration of the climb, be treated to spectacular 360-degree views across one of the greatest harbours in the world.

Duration: Approx. 3 hours.
Includes knowledgeable guided tour (non exclusive).
Transport not included, guests are required to make their own way to the BridgeClimb office in the Rocks.
Climbs run every 15 minutes and are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Tour 3: Sydney Harbour Bridge Bike Ride

You've seen it - you may have climbed it - but have you ridden it yet? Head out over the fantastic Sydney Harbour Bridge by bike, take in its amazing views, and enjoy the peaceful surrounds of Sydney’s North Shore!  Start out in the famous Rocks district before making the easy bike ride over the bridge - it's an unforgettable sight looking at Sydney and the harbour from this famous landmark. After crossing, explore the northern suburb of Kirribilli and the Governor’s House, then onto a breathtaking 2.5 km stretch of easy harbour-side riding past Luna Park and the tranquil Lavender Bay. The conclusion of the trip entails a short ride back over the bridge, lunch, and a visit to more of Sydney's unique historical and cultural sites. All Inclusive - Lunch, beverage, bikes, and guide are included on this amazing tour.

Tour 4: Blue Mountains

Escape the city and travel west to the Blue Mountains - where the spectacular scenery of this majestic World Heritage listed area includes sandstone cliffs, gorges and valleys of eucalyptus trees. Visit one of Sydney’s premier wildlife parks and be photographed with a koala (at your own expense) and hand feed the free-roaming kangaroos. Meet other native animals including emus, wallabies, wombats and echidnas.  Discover the Aboriginal legend of the Three Sisters - giant sandstone rock formations in the Jamison Valley. Descend the world’s steepest railway on a thrilling ride via rock tunnels to the fern-filled forest on the valley floor. The tour includes lunch.    

Tour 5: Manly Beach Bike Ride and Sunset Cruise

Date:          Saturday 8 September 2012

Description: this fun Manly Beach tour with stunning views from the ferry of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline (don't forget your camera - you can't get better pictures of the harbour and Opera House). After the memorable ferry ride, see the world famous Manly beach and venture out to the scenic North Head by bike. Take in the coastal cliffs with the city skyline in the background. After the bike ride, sit back and take in the beautiful Sydney sunset behind the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and city skyline as you cruise back to the city on the ferry!

* This ride is more suited to an intermediate fitness level due to a significant hill as you head out to North Head. But don't worry, it's worth it when you get up there and the ride down is a blast!

Tour 6: Coffee Cruise on Sydney Harbour

Description: The Captain Cook Main and Middle Harbour Coffee Cruise departs daily from Sydney’s centrally located Circular Quay at both 10.00hrs and 14.15hrs. On board, take in all the splendid Harbour attractions including the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Fort Denison. This award-winning cruise also explores the upper reaches of Middle Harbour with its natural parklands, inner harbour beaches, marinas and waterfront homes. Enjoy this cruise on any day or your preference.  Cruise duration: 2 hours. Please note you will need to make your own way to Circular Quay (Circular Quay is walking distance or a short taxi ride from Sydney CBD hotels)

Tour 7: Zoo Express

Zoo Express is the easy way to visit Sydney's renowned Taronga Zoo, with regular departures throughout the day. The Zoo Express pass includes a cruise to Taronga Zoo from Darling Harbour or Circular Quay, entry to Taronga Zoo and Sky Safari cable car. When your visit to the Zoo is complete enjoy a return cruise from Taronga Zoo to Darling Harbour or Circular Quay. Taronga Zoo is open from 9am to 5pm daily.  Enjoy this cruise on any day or your preference.  Please note you will need to make your own way to Circular Quay (Circular Quay is walking distance or a short taxi ride from Sydney CBD).

Tour 8: Sydney Sigh

Time:          Bus departures every 25  minutes
Tour Cost:  A$40.00 per adult, 24 hour ticket

Explore Sydney and Bondi with this 24 ticket aboard an open-top double-decker bus. See all the main sights as you hop on and hop off 34 conveniently located stops around the city. Listen to the commentary and learn interesting facts. Spend as much or as little time at places of interest before jumping aboard for the next stop - the choice is yours!
With great views from the top of the bus, strategically placed stops and an interesting commentary, a hop-on hop-off tour of Sydney truly is the best way to see the sights of Sydney and Bondi.

You can hop on and off as many times as you like aboard both the Sydney and the Bondi open-top double-decker buses - giving you unparalleled access to the best of Sydney.
